About Us

The soul of any community lies in its folk art. Here in Bengal, centuries-old folk art of Kantha making has received the geographical indication (GI) for its uniqueness. Nowadays, traditional hand embroidery has grown in more popularity than machine embroidery.

The cost of the finished product depends upon many factors such as the intricacy of work, quality of threads, length, and breadth of the covered (embroidered) areas and, last but not the least, the wages paid to the artisans. SOUL OF BENGAL always tries to unfold this rich tradition of artisanship of West Bengal.

We at the SOUL OF BENGAL work with many rural and passionate artisans whose creativity never fails. Some of them have even won national awards for their excellence.

We bring to you exclusive Kantha stitch saree, Dress Material, Kurtis, Kurta/Punjabi, Palazzo, Wrap-Around Skirt, Blouse pieces, Long Scarves, Stole, Chador, Dupatta, and further planning to add more on this list to reflect the ever-changing fashion trends.

Besides Kantha embroidery, we also bring to you the Indonesian technique of batik print as introduced by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in Santiniketan, West Bengal. Batik lungi and dress material are now regaining their lost glory from the clutches of machine-printed fabric.
